LATE BREAKING SKY

She felt the evening coming on
And she felt the walls closing in
It’s so hard to keep on breathing
Unless she gets herself away from this
Far away

Ten dollars and a half a tank of gasoline
Sunglasses and a Beatles tape
She’s got everything that a runaway needs to make the great escape
Far away

She drives under a late breaking sky
For the very first night of the rest of her life
She’s alive
Count the miles and leave it behind
Under the shelter of a late breaking sky
She drives

Don’t matter where she’s going
‘Cause she found a place inside herself
Roll down the window and feel the air
She knows it’s not too late
Too late to live

Chorus

Kevin Bowe and I wrote this song from a musical idea I had a long time ago. We both thought it would be cool to write a song about a girl in a small town that finally realizes that she must get away from the rut she was in if she wanted to get anywhere in this life. I love the imagery in the chorus describing her driving into the sunset knowing she is finally free and on her own.
