SHINE

Something fills me, you're in the air
Like the stillness before the rain
Suddenly nearer, something familiar
That I can’t place
We’re all alone in this ocean of faces
This place is yours and mine
So shake out your hair
And if you drop your guard just leave it there
It’s alright because tonight

We’re gonna shine
Bright as the Fourth of July
And I feel like I’m falling
We’re gonna shine
Bright as the stars in your eyes
When you’re looking back at me
We’ll shine, we’ll shine

Reasons fade like corduroys in seventh grade
An innocence that never was
Moving closer, our time is coming
And when it does

Chorus

Don’t believe in love at first sight
Something so wrong would feel so right
Let your instinct be the light
Lead you into darkness for just one night

Chorus

Shine on forever
Shine on. Nothing can touch us now

I wrote this song with Charleton Pettus in New York. We were describing what it was like to meet somebody in the crowd while I was performing at a concert. I would tell her that tonight is our night.....who knows what will happen tomorrow....all we have is the moment...right now.
