SINCE YOU WENT AWAY
by Tim Mahoney / Marlon Young

Just another day I tell myself
I'm doing all right, all right
When the sun goes down
It’s another lonely night, lonely night
I can’t tell you how it hurts inside
But some things I can’t hide

Since you went away
Don’t know if I can go on
Since you went away
This house don’t feel like home
And I know the pain
I take it day by day
Since you went away

Still carry a picture that no one can see
Too afraid of what they think
It’s got the best of me
Never want to see myself on the so-called losing end
Looks like I’ve paid the price — pride has got me once again

Chorus

Look at me look at me
It’s all good as can be
How ‘bout you, how ‘bout you?
Is it real? Tell the truth
Are things really OK?

Chorus

I had the chorus melody for a long time in this song, but couldn't find the right lyrics to fit. One night, after coming home from dinner, Marlon mentioned the words 'since you went away' and from there it practically wrote itself into this beautiful song about how somehow you never feel the same when someone leaves.
