TILT-A-WORLD
by Tim Mahoney / Marlon Young

Published by Meenie Music (BMI) / Jo-Tan Music (BMI)

At an early age, turned upside down
Seen a little of me in every clown
Crushed with pain when it left town
Told myself never again but always there next time around

Feeling catatonic
Somehow ironic

Tilt-a-whirl always got me high
Made me sick but still I’d ride
Tilt-a-whirl, Tilt-a-world

Older bygones should be gone
Tried many others, all felt wrong
Can’t expel this feeling from my mind
Every time I hear that song takes me back to the first time

Feeling catatonic
Somehow ironic

Chorus

Don’t know where you are
Haven’t seen you in some time
Are you trying to tilt a world the way you tilted mine
There’s only one first time, one first time

Feeling catatonic
Somehow ironic

Chorus

Marlon and I feel we used an interesting metaphor to describe this feeling in a relationship. It comes from the old carnival ride the Tilt-A Whirl. You feel sick when you are on it but you loved it at the same time and missed it when it was over.
