SOMETHING TELLS ME (Your glasses are old)
by Tim Mahoney / Marlon Young

They say an apple doesn't fall far from the tree
Look at you, look at me
Planted a seed, gave me a chance to grow
I hope some day I’ll do the same but you never know
One more day, no guarantee

Something tells me you have a different view
Something tells me I’m a lot like you
Something tells me I could only dream the stories you’ve told
Something tells me your glasses are old

Looking back on the days of my youth
Trying to find my way, a path through you
Now I’m on my own and I’ve come to realize
I’d give anything if you could see through my eyes

Chorus

Time keeps moving on taking me out of my mind
Can’t take me from you
Not a day goes by I don’t worry the way you use to
Guess that’s how it goes, we’ve exchanged roles

Chorus

In one day, Marlon and I wrote this song at O'Gara's Bar in St. Paul, Minnesota. I wanted to try and see if we would be inspired in a different place other than my home where a lot of my music is written. The subject matter is about my father and the crazy stories he used to tell me... wondering if they were true. The chorus describes how I'm a lot like him in many ways and how our roles have changed. I worry about him now, just like he worried about me when I was young.
